Transforming Patient Experience with Intrinsic Motivation

In 2017, the neuroscience division team at Barnes Jewish Hospital began a transformation change engaging in performance improvement engagement to improve patient experience.  Working together the team identified change agents, manufactured energy and followed a lean journey to excellence.  Using lean tools to visualize and manage performance the team was able to improve patient experience and reduce staff turnover. The innovation unit at BJH was able to achieve the top percentile in patient experience by leveraging transformational leadership and a performance improvement system.
