Dr. Martin’s career has spanned more than 30 years of clinical expertise in cardiac anesthesiology and research interest in drug metabolism, chemical pharmacology and toxicology, and immuno-hepatorenal toxicity.
Before joining Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Dr. Martin served as the medical director of perioperative services for the Johns Hopkins Hospital and professor of anesthesiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Martin holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Howard University. He earned his MD from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, and he completed his residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in cardiac anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins and earned his MBA at the Carey School of Business at the Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Martin has served as an American Society of Anesthesiologists committee member for the 2000 Subcommittee on Experimental Circulation; Committee on Research; and the Scientific Advisory Board.
